Can Alkan, Assistant Professor in Department of Computer Engineering, has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor, effective April 22, 2021.
Dr. Alkan received his Ph.D. degree from Case Western Reserve University. He worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Washington, Seattle. He also worked in ETH Zurich and Seven Bridges Genomics as a visiting scientist.
Dr. Alkan’s current research interests include: Combinatorial Algorithms for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, Human genome structural variation and segmental duplication detection, High throughput sequencing technologies, Pan genomics, Hardware acceleration of bioinformatics applications, GPGPU programming, and Processing-in-memory technologies.
